Swede Run Fields & Dog Park
Moorestown Township, NJ
Swede Run Fields has a system of over 2.5 miles of trails that wind along the perimeter of this open space parcel, which is bisected by Westfield Road. A 150 year old historic barn is located just off the drive, and is a local cultural amenity- a visual destination for photographers, history buffs, and hikers alike.
Parking and Trail Head improvements include paved driveway aprons and a stone parking lot in a similar configuration as the existing drive. The majestic maple has been preserved, and will continue to serve as a major focal point for the project. Handicap accessible parking has been provided in accordance with the New Jersey barrier free sub-code along with accessible walkways connecting to the dog park area. Trail connections have been made from the parking area to the perimeter gravel trail system.
The dog park includes fenced in areas for both large and small dogs, separated for safety. Double access gate areas minimize opportunities for dogs to escape. Water service has been extended to the site and drinking fountains have been provided for 2 and 4 legged visitors! A picnic pavilion with tables and seating has also been provided for shade and picnicking opportunities. Agility structures create physical challenges, and training opportunities for dogs.
